If you see a puppy on Facebook that's not on the website, the puppy has found their family

Waitlist Basics
How does the waitlist work?
We maintain one master waitlist for all dachshund puppies, regardless of sex, color, coat pattern, or litter. Once a litter is born, it will work through the waitlist in order. Each family will have 24 hours to let us know if they want to pick a puppy, meet the puppies, or wait for future litters. We will ask families to meet the puppies before their turn or within 48 hours of being notified.
Do you guarantee color, size, or specific markings?
No, we cannot guarantee color, size, coat pattern, or specific features. What we can guarantee is healthy, happy, well-raised puppies.
How is the waitlist ordered and how long is it?
The waitlist is organized in the order deposits are received. Wait times vary depending on litter sizes, timing, and what families are looking for. We typically have waitlist spots available, but we will max it out at ten families.
Can I view the waitlist online?
No, to protect the privacy of our families, we do not publicly post our master waitlist on our website or social media.
How long can I stay on the waitlist?
Your deposit and waitlist placement remain active for one year plus one litter. While it is rare for families to stay on the list this long, it occasionally happens. If your year is approaching expiration, we will notify you with upcoming litter options.
Bringing Your Puppy Home
What food are the puppies on?
The puppies are on Purina Pro Plan Puppy Food. We will provide a small bag of this that you can use to help you transition to another puppy food of your choice.
When are puppies ready to go home?
Puppies are typically ready for pickup or transportation at 8 weeks old unless otherwise discussed or required for international travel.
Why do you encourage puppies to go home around 8 weeks old?
We strongly believe the 8-12 week period is an important developmental stage for puppies. During this time, puppies benefit greatly from bonding with their new family, learning household routines, beginning socialization with other animals in the home, and adjusting to their long-term environment. For this reason, we encourage puppies to transition to their new homes around 8 weeks old whenever possible so families can begin building those relationships and routines during this critical socialization period.
Do you offer transportation or shipping?
Yes, we are happy to work with families throughout the United States and internationally to coordinate transportation for their puppy.
What transportation options are available?
-
Flight nanny services (Cost of flight + Cost of Puppy in Cabin Fee for the Airline + Nanny Fee)
-
Meeting families at the airport (DSM)
-
Limited ground transportation options on a case-by-case basis
*Please note that most airlines are not taking puppies as cargo anymore and therefore need to fly with a human
How long can you keep my puppy after 8 weeks?
We will keep puppies until 9 weeks old at no additional charge for pickup or transportation arrangements.
Do you offer additional boarding?
Yes, if you are traveling or unable to pick up your puppy by 9 weeks old, additional boarding may be arranged ahead of time. Additional boarding includes $15/day boarding fee and any additional vaccination or deworming costs incurred during the extended stay
When is final payment due?
The remaining balance is cash only and due at pickup or before the dog leaves the care of Helmuth Dachshunds
